The media has decided to play up the issue of testimony by Witness #9 in the Trayvon Martin / George Zimmerman case. The question at hand is whether they will release an additional statement from this witness. This is not a new witness, and we have had this witness’s released statement available for you to hear for over a month.
In the motion to restrict disclosure filed today, Zimmerman’s Attorney Mark O’Mara stated the following (full motion at the end of article):
Witness #9 has made two statements. The first statement has already been released to the public (without the identifying witness information) without objection. The second statement is the subject of this motion. The content of this statement is not relevant to the issues of this case, and it would not be admissible in the State’s case in chief.
This exposes a major problem with many media organizations today. The staff of popular so-called news sources are not accessing the information firsthand, thus they report old information as new. Around the web, writers are presenting Witness 9′s statements during a phone call to Sanford Police Investigator Trekelle Perkins as new revelation, but that phone call is not part of the second discovery in the George Zimmerman case. The call has been available since the initial discovery in mid-May.
This is a clear sign that the media is irresponsible when it comes to reporting accurately and timely. We should demand better from the organizations we call news sources whom we trust with providing us with worthy information. We should, also, demand that we, too, do not fall to the side of laziness, as is clear with the staff at major media organizations.
The information is out there, and we should be looking at the actual information instead of relying on lazy faux journalists and shock-value reporters to give us their spin on things they have no knowledge of, because they have not sought truth and information ahead of time.
Because we feel that it is important to go straight to the source for information, we have done exactly that. We house many files associated with the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin Case at a site we created strictly for that purpose, TheyAlwaysGetAway.Com. The site includes court documents, motions, pictures, audio, and video. Take a look for yourself, and stay in the know and abreast!
