Police Move On Mountain Man Holed Up In Washington Bunker And Claim He Killed Himself Inside
The 22-hour standoff with Washington survivalist is over:
NORTH BEND, Wash. (AP) — After a 22-hour standoff, police blew the top off a rugged mountain bunker near Seattle on Saturday, only to find their target — a man believed to be a murder suspect who holed up there — dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside.
Authorities had not positively identified the body as 41-year-old Peter Keller, who hadn’t been seen since his wife and daughter were found shot to death last weekend, King County sheriff’s Sgt. Katie Larson said.
A bomb squad cleared the bunker, built into a ridge in the Cascade Mountains, to make sure there were no booby-traps before detectives entered. Officers shouted warnings before blowing the roof, Larson said. Tear gas pumped into the bunker didn’t work on Friday. With clear weather and a fresh SWAT team in place Saturday morning, it was time to act more aggressively, she said.
It wasn’t clear if any officers had heard the gunshot from inside the bunker, she said.

So we are to believe that this survivalist spent eight years building this underground bunker to be safe from police or anyone else who might wish to harm him, yet once in the sanctuary, he kills himself? Yeah right!
Here’s what we think really happened… The police, frustrated after a 22-hour standoff, in which they sought Peter Keller for the murder of his wife and daughter, decided to move on his homemade fortress. The blew the the roof, and shot him, then claimed it was self-inflicted. They made sure to take plenty of photos of the inside of the bunker to show people just how crazy he was. They also were banking on people having a lack of sympathy because of the nature of the crime of which he was accused.
Sudan Declares State Of Emergency In Order To Kill Food Smugglers And Commit Other Atrocities
In a not-so-surprise move, Sudan has declared a state of emergency in select border areas:
KHARTOUM (Reuters) – Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir declared a state of emergency in some areas bordering South Sudan, a state-linked media website said on Sunday.
The Sudanese Media Centre said Bashir’s decree covered some areas of South Kordofan, White Nile and Sinnar provinces. It did not give further details.

Whenever a government wants to act extraordinarily barbaric, they declare a “state of emergency” so that their atrocities will hopefully be viewed differently by their citizens and the world. It provides justification and gives the authority to do behave outrageously toward their own people and others. Declaring the state of emergency allows Sudan to seize greater power from and enforce greater power and control over its own citizenry.
We only need to look to statements made by Sudan’s vice president last week to see what they’re up to:
Sudan’s Ashrouq net quoted First Vice-President Ali Osman Mohamed Taha as saying that his country “intends to declare the state of emergency on the border areas with South Sudan to prevent smuggling of food commodities.”
Taha further called for granting powers to the smuggling control authorities to kill whoever attempts to provide the “enemy ” with food, according to the report.

Indian Parents Demand To Know Why Their Preschoolers Are Taught B Is For Bomb
Indian parents are all up in arms after discovering that the examples for words given when teaching the alphabet in a book weren’t what they expected:
LUCKNOW, India – Angry parents are demanding to know why their kids are being taught about bombs and knives at nursery schools in a northern Indian state.
They complain that a book on Hindi language alphabets for children aged 4 to 5 says that “B” stands for bomb and “Ch” for “Chaku,” or knife. Pictures accompany the words.
Ram Authar Dixit, president of the Parents-Student Welfare Association of Gurukul Academy in Uttar Pradesh state, said Sunday that the national education board was investigating how such a book was cleared for private nursery schools.
More than 100 schools in the state have been using the book. […]
“Children have an impressionable mind. If students are taught about bombs and knives at this stage this would develop a negative mindset for them,’ Ananya Tiwari, a child psychologist, told The Associated Press in Lucknow, the state capital.

Should these parents really be upset? After all, isn’t “B” for “Bomb”? What is wrong with the children knowing about bombs when bombs are a very real part of the reality of living in the country? Perhaps this can be viewed as a teaching opportunity if the child wasn’t already aware of what a bomb is. Parents need to stop trying to hide everything from their child. Teach them instead of trying to keep information from them.
